Growing Your Astronomy Club logo

"Growing Your Astronomy Club" is a series of three videos that offer ideas and advice gathered from research with amateur astronomy clubs across the United States.

The solutions outlined here have been successfully implemented at astronomy clubs to address a variety of issues related to attracting new members, retaining members, and involving members as volunteers.

If your club is experiencing any of these issues, watch the videos with your Board and club members. Then review the Tips to start transforming your club.

Part 1:  WELCOMING VISITORS
Do new people visit your club meeting once and never return?

Part 2:  KEEP 'EM COMING BACK
Do new members join, but then don’t renew their membership?

Part 3:  CULTIVATING VOLUNTEERS
Have trouble getting members to volunteer for club positions?

Keep 'Em Coming Back

Part 2: Keep 'Em Coming Back

Do new members join for a year, but don’t renew? Is attendance at your club meetings declining? Discover techniques clubs have adopted for supporting new members and keeping current members interested and engaged.

Cultivating Volunteers

Part 3: Cultivating Volunteers

Can’t get members to volunteer? Can’t extract a member from a position? Are some volunteers experiencing burnout? Find out what practices clubs follow to successfully recruit and support members as volunteers.
