Las Cumbres Amateur Outreach Award winners
Purpose
The
Las Cumbres Amateur Outreach Award, established by Wayne Rosing
and Dorothy Largay, seeks to honor outstanding educational outreach
by an amateur astronomer to K-12 children and the interested lay
public.
Eligibility
"Amateur"
is understood to mean someone who does not receive compensation
(other than expenses) for their activity and does not receive the
majority of their income from a profession in astronomy.
Nominations
Nominations
are made by members of the astronomical community. Self nominations
or nomination by a family member will not be accepted.
Letters
of Support
Letters
of support are required, and should be requested by the nominator.
Due
Dates
Nomination
forms and letters of support must be received in the office of the
Astronomical Society of the Pacific on or before 15
December 2008.

Selection
The
Award will be selected by the Awards Committee appointed by the
Board of Directors. The Award will be announced in the spring of
2009.

Award
The
award consists of $500 and a plaque to be presented at the Annual
Meeting Awards Banquet.
