ASP 2007 Year in Review
The ASP takes this opportunity to acknowledge and thank our benefactors and friends who contributed to the Society and partnered with us in implementing our mission-based astronomy and space science programs. The 2007 ASP Year in Review also highlights many of the Society's recent accomplishments as we continue to make progress in our goal of improving science literacy through engagement in astronomy.

The International Year of Astronomy 2009

2008 Spring Fund Drive logo

The International Year of Astronomy represents a singular opportunity for stimulating public awareness of the heavens, of astronomical discovery, and of the value of science as a tool for understanding the world and creating a better future for all. The year 2009 represents a unique opportunity to spark an interest in the next generation of scientists who will take our country and our society into the future. We extend a special invitation to join us today in support of ASP's initiatives to achieve these goals and establish a legacy for future generations. You can make a difference by making a gift today. By working together, we can improve science literacy through engagement in astronomy -- providing for the future as we celebrate the sky!

Support Slooh for Schools
slooh.com logo
The Astronomical Society of the Pacific has a successful history of astronomy education programs, including nationally renowned Project ASTRO, Family ASTRO, the Night Sky Network, and the Universe in the Classroom Teachers' Newsletter. We carefully design programs to benefit specific audiences and are now excited to partner with the Slooh Online Observatory to design classroom activities that utilize the technology and inspiration of remote observing. The result: Slooh for Schools. Please consider making a gift today to support this important project.
Conference Series Publication: Providing Resources Internationally
Conference Series book

Since 1988, the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP) has published the renowned Conference Series as part of its century-old mission to provide resources for astronomers and advance the science of astronomy. These are excellent, widely recognized summaries of the state of the field. Most astronomers in the United States and Canada, and many in Europe and Japan, have at least one or two ASP Conference Series volumes on their shelves, and most American science libraries have large collections. But this is not true in third world countries.

Make a gift today to support providing the Conference Series volumes to third world countries. We invite you to read the document outlining the need and how you can partner with the ASP to provide this valuable resource internationally.

"The ASP was a pioneer in public outreach programs. Today, the entire astronomical community embraces such efforts as an increasingly important means to foster awareness of scientific progress and appreciation of the excitement of contemporary research. Any contribution today can have a larger-than-life impact on our society's educational efforts."
-Leif J. Robinson, Editor Emeritus, Sky & Telescope
