1.
Do I need to be a member of the American Astronomical Society
or the Astronomical Society of the Pacific to attend the workshops
or the symposium?
No.
Everyone interested in preparing for the International Year of
Astronomy is welcome at this meeting. There are special web pages
and forms on the registration site that will allow everyone to
register. And you can attend the weekend
workshops without attending the full meeting (the admission
fee for these is only $25 per day if you register in advance.)
2. I don't see any information on your web site about
hotel reservations, flights, arrangements in St. Louis? Where
do I find that?
Information about travel and lodgings is on the American Astronomical
Society meeting web site: http://www.aas.org/meetings/aas212/travel_and_lodging.php
3.
I am an astronomer who generally attends the American Astronomical
Society Meetings. Can I participate in the ASP meeting events
for the same fee and still go to some of the AAS sessions in my
research area?
Absolutely.
That's the beauty of the meeting-within-the meeting format.
The ASP symposium will stop during the major plenary lectures
of the American Astronomical Society. Meeting attendees may switch
between the ASP IYA Symposium and the regular AAS Meeting programs
at any other time.
The
only parts of the meeting that cost extra are the weekend workshops
and the awards banquets. All other sessions are covered by the
AAS meeting registration fee.
4.
I am having trouble registering for some part of the meeting.
(For example, I got an error message while trying to register.)
Whom do I contact?
You can e-mail Laronda Boyce at the AAS registration help desk
at:
reg-help@aas.org or telephone:
202-328-2010 ext. 110.
5. I registered for the AAS meeting or the ASP symposium, but
then decided to come for some of your interesting workshops the
weekend before. How can I add them to my registration?
The AAS registration web site does not allow you to make revisions
to your registration record once you have completed your payment.
To add the workshops, you must do one of the following:
a. Download a printable form (http://www.aas.org/meetings/aas212/ASP_Workshop_and_Event_Form.pdf)
and fill it in. Then you may fax it to the AAS at 202-234-7850
or mail it to:

b. Call the AAS Meeting Desk at 202-328-2010 ext. 110. Have your
workshop choices, your credit card and your AAS registration receipt
handy, if possible, and they will register you for the workshops
over the phone.
