Registration Information

Register for the meeting (please read instructions below first).

After July 15th, no on-line or mail registrations for the meeting can be accepted. You can still register at the door, but please come a little early to have enough time to fill out the registration form, make payment and arrive at your first session on time. For the time and place of on-site registration, click here.

Registration Instructions

Safe & Secure: The ASP is using a safe and secure third-party registration vendor, Event Rebels, to process registration information and PayPal to process credit card payments.

Two Forms: We are using two on-line forms for the meeting:

a. a registration form, which lets you just register one or more people for the meeting

b. an abstracts form that allows you to submit an abstract separately from registering for the meeting (you can use this form more than once if you are submitting two abstracts)

E-mail Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation of your registration, as well as follow-up email notifications pertinent to the meeting. Please be sure to give us an email address that will work for you in the spring and in the summer. Your email confirmation will serve as your receipt for meeting registration expenses.

REMINDER: Each time you submit a form for our meeting, you will receive a new confirmation letter, a new confirmation code, and registrant ID. At the present time, the system is not able to link together different forms submitted by the same person. This means that if any of your information (such as e-mail or address) changes between now and the meeting, you will need to change the record for all forms you submitted -- your registration and each abstract.

Multiple Registrants: You may sign up more than one registrant at a time but make sure you have all of their information and selections ready prior to filling in the form.

Registration: Online only.

Payment: For your convenience, there are two payment options:

  • Credit card using the secure online registration/payment system.

  • Check or money order -- via postal mail accompanied by a printout of the confirmation email you receive after submitting your online registration. Your check or money order must be received by July 15.

We cannot accept purchase orders as a payment method for this meeting or the associated events.

IMPORTANT TIPS FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION:

We recommend reading this Registration Information page thoroughly before filling in the registration form. The form is time sensitive and will "time-out" within 10 minutes if you are not ready to answer all of the questions.

Secure Online Payment. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. You will be asked to supply the 3 digit CVV2 number on the back of your credit card and the billing address associated with the credit card.

Mail-in Check/Money Order Payment. If you wish to pay by check or money order, you must SUBMIT your registration online, and mail check or money order with a copy of the Registration Confirmation email you receive after submitting your online registration to address below.

Checks or money orders should be made payable to "Astronomical Society of the Pacific" or "ASP" and paid in US dollars. Your check or money order must be received no later than July 15 (checks for discounted rates must be received by the discount deadline indicated).

Mail forms and check/money order payment to:

Regarding ASP Membership:

If you are a current ASP member, we ask you to tell us that on the registration form and you will receive a member rate.

You are invited to become a member in order to receive the member rate for registration. ASP membership also supports the dynamic science education programs and services of the ASP. You can view all of the Membership Information from the ASP here.

One-day Registration Rate

If you are only able to attend one day of the conference, we offer a one-day rate of $199.

Consider becoming a sponsor. Depending on your level of contribution, participant registration(s), exhibit space, and other promotional opportunities for your organization are included. See SPONSOR BENEFITS.

Please note: no meals are included in the registration fee, but coffee breaks will be provided. This registration fee does not include breakfast or lunch, but there will be places near the hotel to purchase meals.

Meeting Fees: There is a separate registration fee for attending the Saturday/Sunday workshops (Galileo Teacher Training Program GTTP).

Galileo Teacher Training Weekend Workshop Fees (July 30-31)

$95 for two days. (Includes the new Universe at Your Fingertips 2.0 DVD-ROM and a Galileoscope telescope kit.)
This fee does not include breakfast or lunch, but there will be places near the hotel to purchase meals.

Short Courses for Teachers Fees (Aug. 1-3)

We are offering 6 three-hour short courses for K-12 teachers.  Each short course has a separate registration fee. Some scholarship assistance may be available.

The fee for each short course is:
Early bird rate (until June 15): $40
Advance rate (June 16 - July 15): $45
On-site rate: $50 (only if space is available)

Registration for the concurrent EPO Conference is NOT required to participate in these short courses. Likewise, the short course fees do NOT provide access to the EPO Conference program, which has a separate fee structure outlined above.

But paying the short course fees DOES allow access to the conference exhibit hall, where education organizations and vendors will have booths with information and materials that may be of interest to K-12 teachers.

ASP Annual Awards Banquet

You are cordially invited to the annual Awards Banquet of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific on Tuesday evening, August 2. Spouses and guests are welcome. After a festive meal, we will celebrate the work of the 2011 award winners in astronomical research and education. You can use the registration form to sign up for Award Banquet tickets and make your entrée selection. The cost, including wine, is $65 per person.

Proceedings for the EPO National Conference

The ASP is planning to publish the proceedings of the Connecting People to Science EPO National Conference as part of the ASP's conference series. ASP will send a complimentary copy to every national conference participant after the event.
