Registration Information

Online registration is now closed. On-site registration will be available beginning August 4.

Registration Instructions

Safe & Secure: The ASP is using a safe and secure third-party registration vendor, Event Rebels, to process registration information and PayPal to process credit card payments.

Two Forms: We are using two on-line forms for the meeting:

a. A registration form, which lets you just register one or more people for the meeting

b. An abstracts form that allows you to submit an abstract separately from registering for the meeting (you can use this form more than once if you are submitting two abstracts)

E-mail Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation of your registration, as well as follow-up email notifications pertinent to the meeting. Please be sure to give us an email address that will work for you in the spring and in the summer. Your email confirmation will serve as your receipt for meeting registration expenses.

REMINDER: Each time you submit a form for our meeting, you will receive a unique confirmation letter, a unique confirmation code, and new registrant ID. At the present time, the system is not able to link together different forms submitted by the same person. This means that if any of your information (such as e-mail or address) changes between now and the meeting, you will need to change the record for all forms you submitted -- your conference registration and the registration of each abstract.

Multiple Registrants: You may sign up more than one registrant at a time but make sure you have all of their information and selections ready prior to filling in the form.

Registration: Online only. 

Payment: For your convenience, there are two payment options:

  • Credit card using the secure online registration/payment system.

  • Check or money order -- via postal mail accompanied by a printout of the confirmation email you receive after submitting your online registration. Your check or money order must be received by July 15 for regular registration. For the Early Bird or Advance rate your check or money order must be received by the deadine for that rate in order to receive the reduced rate.

We cannot accept purchase orders as a payment method for this meeting or the associated events.


We recommend reading this Registration Information page thoroughly before filling in the registration form. The form is time sensitive and will "time-out" within 10 minutes if you are not ready to answer all of the questions.

Secure Online Payment. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. You will be asked to supply the 3 digit CVV2 number on the back of your credit card and the billing address associated with the credit card.

Mail-in Check/Money Order Payment. If you wish to pay by check or money order, you must SUBMIT your registration online, and mail check or money order with a copy of the Registration Confirmation email you receive after submitting your online registration to address below.

Checks or money orders should be made payable to "Astronomical Society of the Pacific" or "ASP" and paid in US dollars. Your check or money order must be received no later than July 15 (checks for early bird rates must be received by the early bird deadline indicated).

Regarding ASP Membership:

If you are a current ASP member, we ask you to tell us that on the registration form and you will receive a member rate.

If you are new to the ASP, you are invited to become a member in order to receive the member rate for registration. ASP membership supports the science and outeach programs and services of the ASP, provides benefits of association, and gets you into the meeting at a discounted rate. One-day Registration Rate

If you are only able to attend one day of the conference, we offer a one-day rate of $195.

Please note: meals are not included in the registration fee, but there are restaurants in and near the hotel to purchase meals. View restaurants near the Doubletree Tucson or the best food near Tucson.

Workshop Fees: There is a separate registration fee for attending the Saturday/Sunday workshop (Galileo Teacher Training Program GTTP).

Galileo Teacher Training Weekend Workshop Fee (August 4-5)

$75 for two days for advance reservation (by July 15, 2012); $95 if paying on site.  
This fee does not include breakfast or lunch, but there will be places in the hotel to purchase meals. View restaurants near the Doubletree Tucson or the best food near Tucson.

ASP Annual Awards Banquet

You are cordially invited to the annual Awards Banquet of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific on Tuesday evening, August 7. Spouses and guests are welcome. The dinner includes celebrating the 2012 award winners in astronomical research, education and outreach. You can use the registration form to sign up for Award Banquet tickets and make your entrée selection. The cost, including wine, is $65 per person. There will be a reception prior with a no-host bar.

Proceedings for the EPO National Conference

The ASP is planning to publish the proceedings of theCommunicating Science Education and Public Outreach national conference as part of the ASP’s conference series. We will send a complimentary copy to every conference participant after the event.

*Refund/Cancellation Policy
Requests for cancellations on advance registration must be received in writing, by emailing to 2012meeting {at} no later than July 15, 2012 for a refund less a 15% processing fee. Cancellations received after July 15, 2012 or persons who do not appear at the meeting are not eligible for any refund. Refunds will take approximately three weeks after the end of the meeting to process. Contact us by phone at 415-715-1400 if you have any questions about these policies.

If you are participating in this meeting, you have three different kinds of actions to take:

1. You need to register for the meeting. If you are not an ASP member, consider becoming a member.

2. You need to reserve your lodgings

3. if you are giving a paper and/or a workshop, you need to submit one or more abstracts
