Klumpke-Roberts Award winners
This
unique Award, established from a bequest to the ASP by astronomer
Dorothea Klumpke-Roberts (1861-1942), recognizes outstanding contributions
to the public understanding and appreciation of astronomy.
There
are no restrictions on nominations for the Award. The contributions
may be in the form of popular books and articles; lectures; radio,
TV or movie productions; or service to public education in astronomy
of any other nature. Nominations are welcome from all members of
the Society and the public at large. In addition, each year a distinguished
group of scientists and educators are asked to make specific nominations
for this Award. Self-nominations are not accepted. The recipient
is selected by the Awards Committee appointed by the Board of Directors.
The award will be announced in the spring of 2008.
The
award consists of $500 and a plaque to be presented at the Annual
Meeting Awards Banquet.
Deadline
for nomination submission is 15 December
2007.
